Meet Georgina Beyer// Worlds First Trans Mayor and MP

  • VFD 66 Stoke Newington High Street London, England, N16 8EL United Kingdom (map)

Georgina Beyer is the world first openly Transgender Mayor and MP. As a Maori she is also a first for the QTIPOC community.

Georgina's life and career has been an incredible journey from becoming trans at 16 years old to becoming a sex worker to club and cabaret entertainer, actress and then to a politician. Her passionate belief in democracy, equality and her belief in justice for the vulnerable leads her to become a Mayoral contender and on to being elected to national parliament. She has never tried to embellish or misrepresent her past and because of this, the New Zealand people have always loved her.

Georgina is in the UK as she has been asked to talk at the prestigious Oxford Union as part of their commemoration of this 'Suffrage' year. She will also be appearing at a Stonewall event and at Cambridge University. This will be the only opportunity for her to meet the wider public and the Queer, Trans and QTIPOC community.

This is a chance for the community to come and meet her and also to celebrate her achievements with us at VFD.

As an entertainer herself, Georgina will be singing and will be joined by other stellar QTIPOC performers and Djays to including Karnage Kills, Don One and Lasana Shabazz.
