Kia ora whanaunga!
Join us at Moku Hq for an afternoon of weaving with Northland weavers Mandy Sunlight, Ruth Port and Rouati Ewens. Mandy, Ruth & Rouati are here in London to study and reclaim the intricate weaving of Te Rā, the only sail woven by Māori still known to exist, housed in the British Muesum's Oceania Object Stores. Please spaces are limited, only click attending if you are committed as it is first come first serve.
We will be woven bracelets, earrings and kupenga taonga (necklaces) with stones the weavers have collected from Brighton Beach. Please feel free to bring something else that you would like to use as a centre piece for your taonga.
Programme as Follows:
12.30pm - Workshop starts
2pm - Break for Afternoon tea (30mins)
4pm - Workshop ends
Please Bring: None serrated pairing knife, scissors & pegs
We are very lucky to have Mandy, Ruth and Rouati here, taking the time to teach us and talk to us about their work. Afternoon is tea provided. Koha is always welcome.
